At the end of August we left
Minnesota and drove to Dayton, IA for a MMAP R&R, which is a
social event held every year where MMAPers play,
praise and learn. The three day event began on Sunday evening
with a bonfire/picnic followed by an entertaining welcome from Larry
and Mary Ann Bernauer using lots of original material. Larry also provided some of the pictures for this report.
|
Duane and Betty Hanna did a great
job of hosting the R&R assisted by Larry & Mary Ann
Bernauer. Betty seemed to have an unending supply of Teddy
Bears and I don’t think anyone left without one. The
lamps to the right of the bears were created by
Ray and Marlene Jordan to be given away at the
R&R.

Devotions
each day varied, some were serious and some were not, but all made a
point. Dave and Roberta Rousseau led the singing
and Jim Cutter was a very
able teacher on two mornings. Larry and Neva Lund were funny,
but we still learned.
|
The Talent Show on Tuesday
evening was a lot of fun, especially seeing Jack Strickland as
Goldilocks, But what really brought down the house was Ashley Taylor as
baby bear. Be sure and click the picture to see that.
|
The
R & R also had it’s serious moments. On Monday we had
an up-date
from the MMAP Office presented by Kerry Cameron. Later Judy
and Kerry led informative Co-ordinator Workshops for both the
men and the women.

Other events at the R & R
included a Garage Sale, Swap Shop, Scrapbook Contest, and
several Workshops. Dave Rousseau (left) organized the Garage
Sale

And,
of course, we had to try to get a group picture. You can click this
picture to enlarge it and then if you’re interested in enlarging it
further, and have some sort of high speed connection, that will be
possible. It may take a while on dial-up.

The
R&R closed with more songs created and sung by the Bernauers,
followed by a Memorial Service led by Gloria (left) &
Ashley Taylor.
